The etiopathogenetic role of <italic>B. cereus </italic>in ulcerative colitis remains unexplored.</p> <p><bold>Aim:</bold><italic> </italic>Detection of ultrastructural features of <italic>B. cereus </italic>strains associated with ulcerative colitis.</p> <p><bold>Materials and methods:</bold><italic> </italic>The ultrastructural features of reference strains of <italic>B. cereus </italic>and strains of <italic>B. cereus </italic>isolated from ulcerative colitis were studied dynamically using light and electron (scanning and transmission) microscopy.</p> <p><bold>Results:</bold><italic> </italic>It has been shown that reference and freshly isolated <italic>B. cereus </italic>strains from clinical material, when cultured <italic>in vitro </italic>, demonstrate a similar ability to spore formation, manifested by the formation of spores of a typical structure consisting of a core, cortex, shell, and exosporium. At the same time, <italic>B. cereus </italic>strains of clinical origin are characterized by the presence of atypical ribbon-like and lamellar inclusions — ultrastructural features that are absent in the reference strains of <italic>B. cereus </italic>.</p> <p><bold>Conclusion:</bold><italic> </italic>The ultrastructural details found may reflect the ecologically determined features of the sporulation of <italic>B. cereus </italic>strains of clinical origin. The involvement of ribbon-like and lamellar inclusions in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis requires further study. Electron microscopic examination may be useful in the framework of the clinical and bacteriological diagnosis of ulcerative colitis.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Обоснование.</bold> <italic>Bacillus cereus </italic>— широко распространённый вид бацилл и возбудитель ряда заболеваний. Этиопатогенетическая роль <italic>В. cereus </italic>при язвенном колите остаётся неизученной.</p> <p><bold>Цель</bold> — обнаружение ультраструктурных особенностей штаммов <italic>В. cereus </italic>, ассоциированных с язвенным колитом.</p> <p><bold>Материалы и методы.</bold> С помощью световой и электронной (сканирующей и трансмиссионной) микроскопии изучены в динамике ультраструктурные особенности эталонных штаммов <italic>В. cereus </italic>и штаммов <italic>В. cereus </italic>, выделенных при язвенном колите.</p> <p><bold>Результаты.</bold> Показано, что эталонные и свежевыделенные из клинического материала штаммы <italic>В. cereus </italic>при культивировании <italic>in vitro </italic>демонстрируют сходную способность к спорообразованию, манифестирующуюся формированием спор типичного строения, состоящих из сердцевины, кортекса, оболочки и экзоспориума. Штаммам <italic>В. cereus </italic>клинического происхождения свойственно наличие атипичных лентовидных и пластинчатых включений — ультраструктурных особенностей, отсутствующих у эталонных штаммов <italic>В. cereus </italic>.</p> <p>Заключение. Обнаруженные ультраструктурные детали, возможно, отражают экологически обусловленные особенности споруляции штаммов <italic>В. cereus </italic>клинического происхождения. Участие лентовидных и пластинчатых включений в патогенезе язвенного колита требует дальнейшего изучения.
