Author Guidelines

The editorial board of the journal accepts articles from authors only through the official website of the journal. Actual authors guidelines and the manuscript submission system are available on the journal's homepage https://www.rjhas.ru/ 

Guidelines for articles preparation 

1. These rules are delivered on the base of the recommendations of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the international initiative group for improving the quality and transparency of medical research “Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research” (EQUATOR) Network ), the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (ASEP).

2. Prior to submission the manuscript to the Editorial Office of the Journal, please carefully read the following materials:

• The thematic focus and milestones of the Journal specified in the section "About the journal" on the journal's website on the Internet.
• Regulations on the principles of editorial ethics of the journal. The journal adheres to the principles of editorial ethics of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

By submitting the manuscript, the authors confirm them to agree with the provisions and principles listed below.

3. Supporting documents.

Supporting documents include:

• cover letter about submitting the manuscript for publication (link to the form). The letter must be signed by all the authors mentioned in the title of the manuscript, and also have a visa of the heads of institutions (or divisions) where the work was carried out;
• a copy of the ethics Committee's conclusion regarding the study (if necessary).

4. Authorship.

The authors of the manuscript can be persons who have made a significant contribution to the work, its revision or correction, final approval for publication, as well as those responsible for the integrity of all parts of the manuscript. Persons who have performed other roles in the preparation of the manuscript (statisticians, language specialists, technical staff, etc.) can be indicated in the manuscript section "Acknowledgments" in Russian and English.

It is necessary to specify the contribution of the authors in writing the manuscript: in which of the stages of the delivery of the manuscript manuscript creation each of its authors took part: the concept and design of the research, collection and processing of material, statistical data processing, writing the text, editing, approval of the final version of the article, responsibility for the integrity of all parts of the article.

Family authorship is not allowed.

The number of authors of the manuscript should be reasonable: in original manuscripts - without restrictions, in reviews - 3-4 authors. Authors must provide links to their profile on https://orcid.org. (the profile must be fully completed in English, including links to publications). More information about authorship can be found on the website of the International Committee of medical journal editors at the link.

5. Acknowledgments.

If the research and/or preparation of the article had financial support, one must specify the source of funding. If there was no financial support, you need to indicate its absence. This information should be provided in Russian and English after the main text of the manuscript in the section "Acknowledgments". If the authors used the services of editorial / brokerage agencies, they should thank them for their ethical participation in the same section. 6. Conflict of interest.

Authors are committed to report any existing or potential conflicts of interest. As conflict of interest there may be considered any situation that can affect the author of the manuscript and lead to concealment, distortion of data, or change their interpretation. The presence of a conflict of interest in one or more authors is not a reason for refusing to publish the article, but the concealment of potential and obvious conflicts of interest on the part of the authors revealed by the editorial Board may cause the refusal to review and publish the manuscript. Information about conflicts of interest or their absence is to be presented in the manuscript in the section "Conflict of interest". If there is no conflict of interest, it must be specified as follows: the Authors declare no obvious and potential conflicts of interest in connection with the publication of this article. 7. Plagiarism and secondary publications.

The use of unfair textual borrowing, borrowing ideas, graphic or tabular elements, and attribution of research results that do not belong to the authors of the submitted manuscript is unethical and unacceptable.

References to the results of other authors' work should be accompanied by references to primary sources that should be included in the list of references. The citation of previously published text is to be enclosed in quotation marks indicating the original source.

If the plagiarism has been revealed in an already published manuscript, the article is subjected to retraction (withdrawal).

One can check the article for originality using the services https://www.antiplagiat.ru (for Russian-language texts) and http://www.plagiarism.org/ (for English-language texts). The editorial Board checks the received manuscripts for plagiarism through the "Antiplagiat" system (https://www.antiplagiat.ru/). The text similarity of more than 20% is considered to be unacceptable. You must not send to the editor works already both published and sent to other Publishers.

8. Editing.

The editorial Board reserves the right to shorten and edit the submitted articles. The date of receipt of the article is the time when the final (revised) version of the article is received, if it is finalized by the authors after reviewing.

9. Sending manuscripts.

The manuscripts and supporting documents can be submitted to the editorial office in one of the following ways:

• upload files with the text of the article, accompanying documents and additional materials to the journal's website via the online form;
• by e-mail to the editorial office address specified on the journal's website

The text of the manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word format, and supporting documents with original signatures as scanned copies in *.pdf or *.jpg format.

10. Requirements for manuscripts submitted to the journal.

10.1 Format of the manuscript text.

The main text of the manuscript article should be printed in Times New Roman or Arial font, font size 12, with a 1.5-n interval between the lines, the wide of all fields accounts for 2 cm. The all text must be paginated. You can't use automatic word wrap. The main text of the manuscript should be written as whole file (list of authors, title of the manuscript, affiliation of authors, summary, key words, information for correspondence, information for citations, information on possible conflicts of interest, Acknowledgments, main text, tables, references, information about the authors); the file with the text of the manuscript should be named with the surname of the first author (Ivanov.Text). The drawings and scanned copies of documents are downloaded as separate files, also named with the surname of the first author (Ivanov.Fig.1).

10.2 Volume of the main text

The volume of the main  text of original articles, literature reviews and lectures should not exceed 18 pages (including illustrations, tables, summaries and references), descriptions of reviews and informational messages — 3 pages.

10.3 Language of the manuscript.

The manuscripts from any country in Russian and/or English are considered to be acceptable  for publication in the journal. If the manuscript is written in Russian, the obligatory translation of metadata into English (the name of authors, title of the manuscript, the official name  of the institutions were the study was carried out, addresses of institutions, article summary, key words, information concerning  the corresponding author, information about the presence/absence of a conflict of interest, information on financial support for the research, contribution of authors to the creation of the manuscript, links to author profiles on the portal https://orcid.org and a list of literature (References) — see below).

If desired, the authors can provide the main text of the manuscript both in Russian and English. Poor-quality translations of main texts are not edited or published.

10.4 Title page.

The title page should be started with the metadata for the manuscript, first in Russian, then in English:

1. surname and patronym initial of the authors
   If there are several authors, each name and the corresponding institution must have a numeric index. If all the authors of the manuscript work in the same institution, one does not need to specify the place of work of each author separately, just specify the institution once. When the author is employed in some institutions, each institution is described by a separate numeric index.
2. title of the manuscript (to increase citation rate, it is recommended not to include geographical indications in the title of the manuscript)
3. the full name of the institution where each author works, with mandatory indication of the departmental affiliation
4. postal code of the institution, city, country
5. summary text (200-250 words)
6. keywords: (separated by semicolons)
7. information for citation
8. contact information of the author responsible for the correspondence
9. author profiles on the portal https://orcid.org
10. contribution of authors in the creation of the manuscript
11. acknowledgments, information about financial support for the article
12. information about the presence/absence of a conflict of interest

The ORCID account includes: the author's first and last name, alternative spellings of the author's full Name, the author's contact information (e-mail, website), the name of the institution where the author works, the position held in the institution, other author IDs, for example in Scopus, a list of the author's works (indicating the DOI and/or links to Scopus), a list of grants that the author participated in. The main language for specifying information on the profile page https://orcid.org is an English language. Duplication of information about the author is welcome in Russian and any other languages.

10.5. A plan for the construction of the text original articles.

The structure of original articles must correspond to the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion). The plan for building the text of original articles should be as follows: introduction; materials and methods; results; discussion; conclusion, list of references, captions if there are drawings.

The introduction gives a brief overview of relevant data, critical appraisal of literature related to the problem, justification of the novelty and significance of the study globally (not only in terms of the city or the country), identifies the outstanding issues and put clear goals and objectives, explaining further study. The each keyword of the article should be reflected in the introduction. It is recommended to avoid long analyses and long historical excursions.

The section "Materials and methods" must include: where and when the study was performed; criteria for inclusion and exclusion of patients, experimental animals; method of study (cohort, prospective, retrospective, series of cases); a detailed description of the new method, modification, experimentation. When submitting experimental works to the press, follow the "Rules for conducting work using experimental animals". In addition to the type, gender, and number of animals used, authors must specify the methods of pain management used during painful procedures and methods of animal killing.

It is strongly recommended to follow the "unified standards for the presentation of results and tests of the expert group CONSORT" (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials), which can be found at the link: http://www.consort-statement.org

The methods published earlier should be accompanied by links: the author describes only changes related to the topic.

In works, presenting the results of scientific research, modern methods of statistical data processing should be used, which should be described in the section of the article "Materials and methods".

Required in statistical analysis: calculating the sample size based on statistical power; determining the normality of the distribution by Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Shapiro-Wilk tests; detailed representation of logistic or linear regression analysis models (determinants and covariants); statistical package and version.

The presentation of results and discussion in the same section is not allowed.

The results should be clear and concise. The data should be presented in absolute numbers and percentages, and a 95% confidence interval (95 CI%) and the confidence level of differences p should be specified. Error Bars are required at all points in the experimental and calculated data, with an explanation in the text of how these errors were established.

The Discussion provides a convincing explanation of the results and shows their significance. The results obtained in computational research should be compared with information from published experimental papers, if possible. It is necessary to specify whether the numerical values given are primary or derived, specify the limits of accuracy, reliability, confidence intervals, estimates, recommendations, accepted or rejected hypotheses discussed in the article. The Discussion should contain a paragraph that explicitly mentions the limitations of the study.

10.6 Design of reviews.

The review article should be designated by the authors as literature review after the title of the article. It is desirable that the reviews comply with international recommendations on systematic literature search methods and standards. Summary of review articles should contain information about the methods of literature search in the databases Scopus, Web of Science, MedLine, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Global Health, CyberLeninka, RSCI, and others. The keywords of review articles should include the word "review".

The name of the systematic review should include the words "systematic review". For more information on how to compile reviews, see the PRISMA guide (Recommended reporting elements for systematic review and meta-analysis), available at:,

10.7 Standards.

All terms and definitions must be scientifically reliable, and their spelling (both Russian and Latin) must correspond to the "Encyclopedic dictionary of medical terms" (2001, 2^nd edition, ed.: V.I. Pokrovsky,  "Medicine", http://www.twirpx.com/file/123175/). Medicinal products should be listed only in international non-generic names that are used first, then, if necessary, several trade names of drugs registered in Russia are listed (according to the information search system "Klifar-Gosreestr" [State register of medicinal products]).

It is desirable that the writing of enzymes conform to the Enzyme Nomenclature standard (http://www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iubmb/enzyme/)

It is desirable that inherited or familial diseases conform to the international classification of inherited conditions in humans ("Mendelian Inheritance in Man" [http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Omim]).

The names of microorganisms should be verified in accordance with the publication "Medical Microbiology" (ed. V.I. Pokrovsky http://www.webmedinfo.ru/medicinskaya-mikrobiologiya-pozdeev-o-k-pokrovskij-v-i.html).

The full Name of the authors mentioned in the text should correspond to the list of references.

The manuscript may be accompanied by a dictionary of terms (unclear, which may cause the reader difficulties when reading). In addition to common abbreviations of units of measurement, physical, chemical, and mathematical quantities, and terms (for example, DNA), abbreviations of phrases that are often repeated in the text are allowed. All letters and abbreviations entered by the author must be deciphered in the text when they are first mentioned. The abbreviations of single words are not allowed, even if they are often repeated. The doses of drugs and units of measurement of physical quantities must be specified in the SI system.

10.8 Summary.

The summary should state only the essential facts of the work, and should not contain General words.  Original manuscripts must have a summary structure that follows the structure of the manuscript and includes an introduction, material and methods, results, section on limitations, and conclusion. However, the subject, topic, and purpose of the work are indicated if they are not clear from the title of the manuscript; the method or methodology of the work should be described if they are new or interesting from the point of view of this work. The length of the text of the author's resume should be strictly from 200 to 250 words. The summary should be accompanied with several keywords or phrases that reflect the main topic of the article and facilitate the classification of work in computer search engines. Keywords are separated by semicolons. Keywords in English must be taken from an organized Medline dictionary (MeSH, EMtree...). It is recommended that the authors ' surnames be transliterated in the same way as in previous publications, if they are not available - in accordance with their foreign passport or using the BGN (Board of Geographic Names) system, see the website http://www.translit.ru. In English, authors are indicated in the John Y. Smith format. For organizations, it is important that the official English version of the name is indicated.

10.9 Requirements for drawings.

General issue. The each image is downloaded as a separate file. Files with graphic images must have logical names (Ivanov.Fig.1).

You should use a single system of letter designations and image scaling.

The images should be numbered sequentially in the main text.

Maximum drawing size: width of 180 mm, height of 230 mm.

Use the following fonts in the image: Arial, Courier, Times New Roman, Symbol, or similar fonts.

Inscriptions in figures should if possible, be replaced with numeric or alphabetic (Latin) symbols, explained in the text of the article or in the captions to the figures. The references to figures (and tables) are given in the main  text of the manuscript.

Formats. Black-and-white line drawings: file format-TIFF (extension *.tiff), any program that supports this format (Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, etc.); mode — bitmap (bitmap); resolution 600 dpli (Adobe Fotoshop); you can use LZW compression or another.

Black and white tonal drawings (grayscal), color tonal drawings (RGB, CMYK)

file format–tiff (extension .tiff ) resolution 300 dpi (Adobe Fotoshop)

Vector graphics: the extension ai., created in Adobe Illustrator CS6.

If an electronic graphic image was created in a Microsoft Office application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), then it should be presented "as is" in the same format.

— files that are formatted for display on the screen (for example, GIF, BMP, PICT, WPG); they usually have a low resolution and a limited color set;

— files with very low resolution;

— drawings published earlier in other works of the authors. The editorial Board reserves the right to check drawings for plagiarism through Google Images.

10.10 Captions to drawings and photos.

Captions to drawings and photos are grouped together and indicated in Russian and English after the information for the RSCI. Each drawing should have a common title. The captions to the charts indicate the designations for the abscissa and ordinate axes and units of measurement, and provide explanations for each curve. Captions to microphotographs indicate the color method and magnification.

10.11 Table Layout.

The table number should be indicated on the top right (if there are more than one tables), and its name in Russian and English is given below. Abbreviations of words are not allowed in tables. All numbers in the tables must match the numbers in the text. The tables can be given in the text without putting them on separate pages. Decimal places in tables are separated by a dot.

10.12 Mathematical formulas.

The mathematical equations should be represented as editable text, not as images. Variables should be indicated in italics. The equations should be numbered in order.

10.13 References

The journal uses the Vancouver citation style. In the list, references should be numbered not alphabetically but in the same order they are mentioned in the text.

In original articles, it is advisable to cite from 20 to 30 sources, in literature reviews — from 30 to 60, in other materials — no more than 15. In the text of the manuscript references are to be indicated by Arabic numerals in square brackets.

Make sure all references given in the text to present in the list of references (and Vice versa).

The references should contain reports published over the last 5-7 years, primarily articles from journals, and links to highly cited sources, including Scopus and Web of Science. Links must be verifiable.

The authors of the cited sources in the list of references should be listed in the same order as in the original source (if the publication has more than 6 authors, then after the 6^th author, you must put an abbreviation  "et al.").

The shortening of the title of an article or the name of a domestic journal is not allowed. The name of English-language journals should be given in accordance with the catalog of names of the MedLine database. If the journal is not indexed in MedLine, you must specify its full name.

Links to Internet sources must be reliable and long-lasting. You should give the exact URL of the site where the source material is located and the date when the link became available.

In all cases when the cited material has a digital object Identifier (DOI), it must be specified at the very end of the reference description. Check the availability of the article's doi on the site https://search.crossref.org or https://www.citethisforme.com. To get the DOI, enter the title of the article in English in the search bar.

You should not refer to unpublished, retracted (withdrawn from publication) articles. Self-citation is not allowed, except in cases when it is necessary (in the literature review no more than 3-5 references).

If possible, you should not refer to dissertations, as well as abstracts of dissertations, it is more correct to refer to articles published on the materials of dissertation research.

Reference lists are included in the English-language section of the article and, accordingly, should be given not only in the original language, but also in Latin (Roman alphabet). Therefore, the list of references should be made in two versions: one in the original language (list "Literature") and a separate block of the same list of literature in the Roman alphabet ("References").

If the article or other source is written in Latin (English, German, Italian, etc.), it must be quoted in its original form:

If the article is not written in English, you must specify the source language in brackets, for example: (in German).

If the article or other source is not typed in Latin, but in Cyrillic (including Russian), Chinese, and so on, the list of" Literature " should include this citation in the original language.

In the "References" list, the title of an article, monograph, collection of articles, or conference should be translated into English with the original language (in Russian) indicated after the output data given in numbers. Monograph titles should also be transliterated. The names of authors and the name of the journal must be transliterated. Since there are various options of transliteration of names, in the preparation of references it is recommended the use of the data from www.elibrary.ru. The name of the origin is shown in italics.

When referring to sources translated from English in References, you must refer to the original citation.

11. Additional materials.

The editorial Board accepts any video and audio materials from the authors of articles intended to help readers more fully disclose and understand scientific research. This can be a short webinar-style presentation, a video recording of an experiment, or a medical manipulation. The additional materials can be published in the electronic version of the journal.

12. Information for the RSCI.

After the list of references it must be provided additional information about each author required for log processing in Russian science citation index: full name in Russian and in transliteration, academic degree, academic title, position, affiliation, postcode, city, country, e-mail for contacts with the authors of the article (can be one e-mail for all authors).

13. Retraction (withdrawal) of articles.

Retraction of an already published article is a last resort and applied in case of disclosure of facts that were not known during the review:

• revealing of the facts of legislation violations and defamation;
• detection of false or inaccurate data, especially those whose use may create a health risk;
• the volume of borrowings is more than 20%.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with each of the following items, and submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to the authors.

• Absence of plagiarism.  The authors guarantee that this article has not been published in whole or in part, and is not under consideration or in the process of publication in another publication.

• Correct manuscript format. Manuscript file format is Microsoft Word (has the extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf). The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

• Illustrations. Tables and figures were placed within the text of the manuscript and have their titles.

• References. The list of references is formatted in accordance with the requirements. All the cited sources were checked for DOI.

• Supplementary files. The authors have prepared for transfer to the editor

  • file containing full information about the authors (Surname, first name, place of work, e-mail address);
  • Graphic files (photos, satellite images, graphics, etc.).
  • The authors are ready to upload these files to the journal website in Step 3 during the manuscript submission process.

• The authors confirm that:

  • all participants who have made a significant contribution to the study are presented as co-Authors;
  • those who did not participate in the study are not listed as co-Authors;
  • all co-Authors have seen and approved the final version of the work and agreed to submit it for publication.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
